Cory Van Geffen joined the firm in 1998 and brings more than 28 years of experience as a financial advisor. He works closely with clients through every stage of their financial journey—from the initial conversation and development of an investment strategy to implementation and ongoing management as their needs and goals evolve.
Cory believes successful financial planning begins with listening. In an industry that can often focus too heavily on products, he takes a different approach—first understanding what matters most to each client, their concerns, and what they hope to accomplish. Education is a central part of that process. Cory takes the time to help clients understand investment risk, how different investments work, and why one strategy may be more appropriate than another.
Cory’s approach also extends beyond simply selecting investment products. He takes an active, hands-on role in the ongoing management of his clients’ investments, continually evaluating portfolios, market conditions, risk, and opportunities. Rather than viewing investment selection as a one-time decision, Cory believes portfolio management should be an ongoing process that evolves along with both the markets and each client’s financial life.
His goal is for clients to feel informed, comfortable, and confident about the decisions they make regarding their investments and retirement. That relationship continues well beyond the initial investment process. Cory meets with clients regularly to review their financial picture, discuss changing objectives, and make adjustments as market conditions and life circumstances evolve.
Cory earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in Economics from Southeastern Louisiana University. He holds the Series 7 and Series 63 securities registrations, as well as a Louisiana Life and Health Insurance license.
Cory lives in Slidell with his wife, Melissa, their daughters, Karis and Farrah, and their son, Brady. The Van Geffen family attends Church of the King in Mandeville. Outside of the office, Cory enjoys spending time with his family and anything that brings out his competitive side. You can often find him on the golf course, working out, playing guitar, or traveling with his family in search of either snow or sand.
